Common Questions and Concerns
Restoring a vehicle is a major commitment that requires time, effort, and financial investment. Understanding the basics will help you determine whether restoration is the right path for your vehicle.

We restore all types of vehicles of all ages. We are happy to take on almost any project. Reach out to us so we can discuss what you need.
How long does a full car restoration take?
A full car restoration can take anywhere from a few months to several years, depending on factors like the car’s condition, availability of parts, and the complexity of the work. If you’re restoring a rare or classic car, finding parts might slow things down. Professional restorations typically take between 1 to 3 years for a high-quality finish.
How much does it cost to restore a car?
The cost of restoring a car varies widely, ranging from $20,000 to over $100,000. It depends on the car’s make, model, level of damage, and whether you’re doing a full-frame-off restoration or just fixing minor issues. Labor, paint, upholstery, and mechanical repairs all contribute to the final price.
Can I restore a car by myself, or do I need professional help?
The answer depends largely on your experience and skill level. If you have a background in mechanical work, welding, or painting, you may be able to complete much of the restoration yourself and reduce overall costs. However, more complex tasks, such as metal fabrication, engine rebuilding, bodywork, and electrical wiring, often require specialized tools and professional expertise. Understanding your capabilities and knowing when to seek professional assistance can help ensure a successful restoration.
What should I consider when planning on restoring my car?
One of the first things to consider is the desired end result. Do you want your vehicle restored to its original factory appearance, or are you open to modifications? For example, if you plan to regularly drive your classic car on modern highways, certain upgrades may improve safety, performance, and reliability. While deciding to restore your vehicle is an important first step, having a clear vision for the finished product will make the restoration process much easier.
What is the most important detail I should know about restoring my car?
Your budget. Establishing a realistic budget is one of the most important steps in any restoration project. Consider not only what you have available to invest, but also what you're willing to spend to achieve your desired result. Most restoration projects require an initial deposit to cover parts and labor costs. As work progresses, additional expenses may arise due to unforeseen issues, such as repairing damaged replacement parts, electrical system upgrades, bodywork, paint materials, engine installation, safety improvements, and other unexpected repairs. Planning for these costs can help keep your project on track and avoid surprises along the way.
Can you provide an estimate of what it might cost?
Providing an accurate restoration estimate before work begins is extremely difficult. Until a vehicle has been thoroughly cleaned, disassembled, and stripped to bare metal, the true condition of the body and underlying structure cannot be fully assessed. Hidden rust, previous repairs, body filler, and corrosion are often concealed beneath paint and may not be discovered until the restoration process is underway. Because every vehicle is different, the actual scope of work and associated costs can only be determined after a detailed inspection and evaluation.
